Cathaoirleach
At their July monthly meeting each year the members of the Authority elect one of their number to be the Cathaoirleach (Chairman) for the ensuing year. A Leas-Cathaoirleach (Vice-Chairman) is also a one-year term.
At their meeting held on 16th July 2009, the Authority elected Cllr. George Jones (FG) as Cathaoirleach, and Cllr. John McGinley (FG) as Leas-Cathaoirleach.
Since its establishment the following have held the office of Cathaoirleach of the Mid-East Regional Authority:
